Hats have always been a staple in my wardrobe, with most of my childhood photos featuring everything from bucket hats to sideway ball caps. It feels surreal now being able to produce my own fitted, decades later.
Often, design merely serves an aesthetic purpose; but, at Spirit & Sin, our designs narrate a story. Somehow and someway, they encapsulate culture, history, and everything in between.
The design of this season’s fitted begins with our signature S script stitched on the front with 3D high density embroidery, complemented by a newly designed side patch. We reference our other ancestral home: Samoa. This patch is a nod to the island’s favourite local beer, Vailima — a component of every, celebration. To round off, the back of the hat is finished with an “01” embroidery, an ode to the bus I used to catch to school every day as a boy in Wellington: Island Bay 01.
All of these elements work together to present our take on the classic 59FIFTY fitted. It will be available in 5 colours: black, red, royal blue, navy and graphite.
